TUTOR'S COMMENTS AND ADVICE TO STUDENT:

Hi James

Really well done on achieving a distinctionin your first TMA; this is a great start to the course and promises much for the rest of the module.

Your structure your report extremely well, you are clearly used to this kind of structure. The report looks very professional and your style of writing is good - you have a very businesslike manner which makes the report look very readable indeed. You also did a pretty good job with the referencing so well done there.. From a style point your report lacked something of an introduction paragraph - it didnt need to be much, but just diving straight into the analysis made it look a little stark.

In terms of content, lets look first at the stakeholder analysis. You do a very good job in identifying the stakeholders, only missing one key one - competitors are an important stakeholder as one slip could give them a key advantage. I'd have loved to see you find some space for the power/influence matrix of Johnson and Scholes - Reading 1 - and more importantly, to draw your analysis together with some key recommendations.

Turning to the SWOT analysis, here you did a really good job. Your explanation is very good - it was especially good that you used your own words, as this helps me better see that you understand the concept. The SWOT itself is very comprehensive and misses only a few points that you could have identified. You also go on to draw a conclusion which pullled your ideas together and developed into some excellent recommendations.

Your work in the TGF was very good indeed - you are an experienced student, compated with many others and your experience is often put to good use in helping them - try not to be critical of their ideas though, as often they can come up with a proper little nugget within the work they produce.

Overall a really encouraging start to the course, and a well deserved high mark - very well done

Eric
